Administrator - Rehua Marae

Te Whatumanawa Māoritanga o Rehua Trust Board is a charitable trust that has its origins in the 1950s when Rehua Marae was established by the Methodist Church.  The Marae was initially set up as a trade training academy for young Māori of Aotearoa and operated as a home to many up until the 1980s.  Since that time it has operationally evolved in many ways but has always been a special place for the Māori community in Christchurch.

Today Rehua Marae has a diverse range of operations that include, a place for whānau to celebrate being Māori, to host hui and farewell loved ones, the provision of kaumātua housing, pakeke health and social services, educational opportunities, catering services and commercial office leasing.

The Rehua Marae Trust Board are currently seeking to appoint a permanent Administrator at 0.5 FTE who brings, administrative skills and experience that will be critical to the Marae’s future.  The objectives of the position are to:

  • Ensure that the values, tikanga and kawa of Rehua is maintained across all operations and activities of the Marae at all times,

  • Build and maintain relationships with whānau, clients, kaumātua, tenants and the Board that demonstrate, courtesy, empathy, respect and trust,

  • Maintain professional standards and proactively facilitate all aspects of the administrative and operational requirements at the marae including tight financial control. 

    We are seeking a special person who:

  • Can demonstrate a high level of professional integrity and professionalism

  • Has excellent written and oral communication skills along with demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to influence

  • A strong affinity for the needs and aspirations of the Rehua community, stakeholders and align to the values of Rehua Marae.


  • Previous employment in a Māori organisation with at last two years previous administration experience is desirable
