Allied Health Critical Care Educators, Te Waipounamu


 

We invite applications for Allied Health Critical Care Educators for Te Waipounamu, (South Island). These positions can be full time or part time and are open to the following professions: Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Speech Language Therapy, Pharmacy, and Dietetics.

The Critical Care Expansion Programme has provided permanent funding for Allied Health Critical Care Educators to support and increase Allied Health (AH) workforce capacity and capability within critical care settings within Te Waipounamu (South Island).  

We are now seeking applications for AH Critical Care Educators – across Te Waipounamu, to provide training and education, in critical care settings.

These roles are open to both full and part time and we ask that you please express your preferred hours in your cover letter. The successful applicants will need to be based in a Critical Care unit, in Te Waipounamu (South Island).

About the role

The primary responsibilities of the Critical Care Educator, is to plan, develop, deliver, and facilitate staff training and education both locally and regionally, against set standards of care/guidelines, for the provision of critical care services for their profession and for the multidisciplinary team. They will work in partnership with other critical care educators to provide support for the AH workforce, and the wider Critical Care teams, across Te Waipounamu.

The focus is point of care specialist learning by working alongside staff who are new-to-practice roles or are experienced staff who are becoming proficient.

The Critical Care Educator will promote a learning environment that supports the development of knowledge & skills of allied health professionals working in critical care services and across the continuum. They will support Allied Health Professionals (AHPs)s to integrate theoretical knowledge into clinical practice and improve quality of patient care.

The role will;

  • report to the Line manager of their Profession operationally and professionally to the Director of Allied Health of the host district
  • work regionally to support profession specific Allied Health staff
  • consider flexible working arrangements; role can be either full or part time

Essential:

  • NZ registered with a current APC
  • Participation in Profession Specific Continuing Competency programme
  • Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
  • Proven clinical leadership abilities
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in educational interventions
  • Experience in critical care

Minimum Qualification and Experience:

  • A relevant post graduate certificate or Diploma or Degree; and
  • 5 years or more of relevant clinical experience in critical care medicine or surgery
