Our Home and Community Support Service is looking for an Associate Lead with practice experience in older person’s health. Based in Hokitika and covering the Southern region for Te Tai o Poutini - this is a permanent part time role for 20hrs each week.

Our service is developing the way we support older persons in the community to fit more closely with restorative and lifespan model so this could be an excellent role for a registered nurse or allied health professional wanting to broaden their practice experience and knowledge. Based in Hokitika our multi-disciplinary team are passionate about the future development of primary care as a locality approach and are a friendly and supportive team to be part of.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse or Allied Health professional to take this next step in their career. You will support the Allied Health Manager (AHM) with managing a large team of permanent and casual healthcare staff. 

You will assist with important processes in this service by supporting the AHM with recruitment, orientation, coordinating education, performance reviews, service development and staff retention.

In this community focused role, you will be working with our clients in their homes to support them with any health needs that will enable them to have the choice to stay in their own home. You will have the opportunity to lead, influence and upskill this team alongside our community nurse to work at the highest level.

  • Working seamlessly within an Interdisciplinary Team including District Nurses, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Home and Community Based Support & Allied Health Professionals.
  • Lead, develop & up skill other members in your team

We’re looking for an experienced Registered Nurse or Allied Health professional with a background in community or rural health and who has an interest in developing their leadership and management skills.  Strategic thinking, problem solving, excellent interpersonal skills are imperative as you will interact with a wide range of people both within the team and the nursing staff in the Southern region; and across the campus.

If you have a desire to develop your management and leadership skills, we’re committed to supporting you, with professional development opportunities available to ensure you thrive in his demanding environment.  A thorough orientation programme will be provided.

  • Initiative, solution focused with excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively and efficiently complete tasks.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the proven ability to engage people at all levels.
  • You will either hold or be working towards a relevant post graduate qualification
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC or an Allied Health professional with proven clinical expertise within a community health setting.
