Our Purpose: Why we do it

When you work with the Canterbury District Health Board, you’re part of something very special. We plan, fund and deliver health services to the almost 600,000 New Zealanders that live in the Canterbury region. Our primary goal is to put people at the heart of everything we do.

The Team: What we do

The Child Development Service supports children from birth to 16 years who have issues with their development in the wider Canterbury area. We’re on the lookout for a motivated and innovative Child Development Coordinator. This role will involve working closely alongside the Developmental Paediatricians in Child Health, visiting families/whanau at home and gathering information to support them when meeting with paediatricians

The Role: Where you fit it

You will use your assessment skills together with your knowledge and experience of child development and disability services to provide support to family /whanau and caregivers and liaise closely with other professionals. You will have superb communication skills and experience dealing with external agencies, such as Special Education and Non-Government Organisations. Your ability to engage with people, establish rapport and maintain good relationships is vital to the role. While working in a multi-disciplinary team, you will also demonstrate initiative and the ability to work autonomously. In return for your enthusiasm and professionalism, we’ll provide you with support from the Clinical Manager and from the wider Child Development Service. Since this role requires travel, a full (manual) NZ driving license is essential.
