About the Role

As an Emergency Medicine Specialist, you will deliver clinical care to a broad range of patients across the acuity spectrum, including paediatric and adult populations. You will be part of a 7-day roster and participate in the on-call schedule.

You will also be responsible for supervision and education of junior medical staff and play a vital role in ensuring the efficient flow of patients through the department in partnership with senior nursing staff. The role reports directly to the Clinical Director of the Emergency Department.

About the Team / Service / Location

Our Emergency Department is located in the Waipapa building at Christchurch Hospital and is part of our tertiary-level health service. The department is accredited for advanced training in Emergency Medicine by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and is a fast-paced, supportive clinical environment.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or an equivalent qualification
  • Eligibility for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (visit mcnz.org.nz for more information)
  • Experience in emergency care for both adults and children
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
  • Proven collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary clinical setting
