My strength is not the strength of one, it is the strength of many
The West Coast District Health Board prides itself in being at the forefront of Rural Healthcare in Aotearoa. Being a Rural Health System is not simply a result of the setting in which we work, it means every staff member working to their full potential and striving for full integration of every single element of our business to create a world class healthcare experience.
With a new hospital due to be completed in early 2020, the West Coast DHB continues to break new ground as we shape our health system to wrap care around patients in their community
The level of the facility will be well above that normally expected with its population base of 33,000. There is a comprehensive road and air retrieval and transfer system, as well as a modern CCU supported by our anaesthetic specialists.
As part of the Transalpine Surgical Service with Canterbury, you will also have the support of your surgical colleagues from our neighbouring teaching tertiary hospital, Christchurch Hospital, and participate in joint educational and audit activities. If you are a General Surgeon looking at a change of scene then we want to hear from you. This role will include acute services, in-patient and out-patient responsibilities as well as the supervision and training of junior medical staff.
