As an organisation we deliver health services to the almost 600,000 people that live in the Canterbury region. We are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its principles by ensuring our partnership with Māori are at the forefront of all our conversations.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dermatologist to join our team. As a Dermatologist, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating various acute skin conditions, conducting skin examinations, performing surgical procedures, and providing expert advice on skincare. You will work closely with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care and promote positive patient outcomes. Our Dermatology Department consists of a multi-disciplinary team, including Dermatologists, Registrars and Dermatology Specialist Nurses. We provide acute dermatological assessment and treatment for patients in the Canterbury/West Coast districts.

Ideally we are looking for Dermatologists who are experienced in Hospital based Dermatology (acute conditions). You will work in a dedicated Dermatology space, that includes four purpose-built consult rooms, two procedure rooms, phototherapy and patch testing suites.  Along with outpatient clinics, there will be some inpatient consultation services for medical patients admitted under other services.  You will be supported by a Dermatology registrar, a Clinical Nurse Specialist and a trained Dermatology nurse.  Our current Dermatologist will work alongside you and share the clinical and teaching duties involved in the role.  You will be supported to develop collegial relationships with public Dermatology services in both Waikato and Auckland, in order to further you development and continuing medical education.

The successful candidate will need to be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. To find out more information about Medical Council registration and requirements please follow this link https://www.mcnz.org.nz/registration/
