Are you an MIT with experience seeking a new challenge? At Te Whatu Ora, Waitaha, some of our current general x-ray employees have moved on to modalities training, so we're looking for fresh talent with extensive expertise to fill their shoes.

Medical Imaging Technologist/Radiographer (General X-ray)

About the roles:

Our team is made up of a variety of roles. These will be based with our general x-ray team, who handle all facets of our busy 24/7 x-ray service, including ED, outpatients, fluoroscopy, NICU, and theatre imaging. This team works between Christchurch and Burwood Hospitals. The positions will be available during the day, evening, night, and weekends.

Why us?

We offer an amazing team, ultramodern facilities and a work/life balance that is second to none.  General X-ray has 100+ staff and 21 rooms spread across 3 main sites, but we pride ourselves on still being a close-knit friendly bunch.

We treat our people as our greatest asset, and this is reflected in our social rostering policies and 44-week roster pattern.  These allow you to plan your work around your life, not the other way round – perfect for family life or a busy social calendar.  Our roster is also fully MECA compliant with 1 in 4 weekends and never more than 7 days in a row.

Our beautiful new building is light, airy and sits right next to the Avon River and leafy Hagley Park.  Most of our equipment is just a few years old.

We may not always take ourselves too seriously, but we have a serious dedication to our patients and to providing a high-quality general x-ray service across the 2nd largest DHB in the country.  We are proud to serve a diverse community from Ashburton to Kaikoura to the Chatham Islands, and all points in between.

Sound too good to be true?  Just ask our team – in our latest staff survey, 87% of them would recommend our department to a friend.

Why Christchurch?

With nature and adventure on the doorstep, a revitalised city centre, short commutes, affordable housing, quality education and tons of opportunity for career growth, life in Christchurch offers a work-life balance that is top notch.

Moving to Christchurch means a better work life balance. We boast 2143 hours of annual sunlight, 14 ski areas, 35 wineries, 350km of walking tracks, 700+ gardens and parks, and an average of 19 mins commute time.

What are we looking for?

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Solid experience of general imaging, preferably in a larger centre but this is not essential
  • 2+ years experience is preferred.
  • A genuine passion for radiography.  You will demonstrate this when teaching the Ara students who we host for clinical placements.
  • A strong work ethic and a dedication to teamwork.
  • A strong commitment to both patient care and producing high quality imaging across ED, inpatients, outpatients, fluoroscopy and theatre
  • Experience of dealing with patients from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • Registration with the MRTB and a valid practicing certificate
