Physiotherapy Team Leader

  • Full time (40 hours) permanent position.
  • Must have current Registration with the New Zealand Physiotherapy Board and a current APC.
  • Excellent communication skills

Our Purpose: Why we do it

When you work with the Canterbury District Health Board, you’re part of something very special. We plan, fund and deliver health services to the almost 600,000 New Zealanders that live in the Canterbury region. Our primary goal is to put people at the heart of everything we do.

The Team: What we do

We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist to lead our Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy team on the Christchurch Hospital combined campus site. You’ll be co-ordinating and providing leadership for a team working with patients across the clinical specialties in Acute Orthopaedics and Orthopaedic Trauma, Burns and Plastics, ENT, ED, Orthopaedic Outpatients and Hand Therapy Outpatients.

This is your chance to develop and use leadership skills in a health system undergoing rapid transformation.  Your skills will be ensuring the ongoing ability of these services to provide optimal care in a fast paced, tertiary care environment.

The Role: Where you fit in

In this role you will be responsible for the daily co-ordination and operational management of both rotational and non-rotational staff to ensure professional development and supervisory needs of your team are met.  Along with the Clinical Manager (Physiotherapy) you will be part of the leadership team supporting, guiding, and directing the Physiotherapy Service on the Christchurch Hospital Campus. You will enjoy the opportunity to be involved with the development and maintenance of policies and procedures and take the chance to contribute at a multidisciplinary level on quality and service committees.

As an Allied Health Team Leader you will carry a clinical caseload within hand therapy, or across the inpatient wards, as demand requires.  You will have worked with a wide number of people from different backgrounds.  Experience working in burns and plastics, treating patients with spinal injuries and taking a lead in caseload management is desirable.

Christchurch Hospital is a busy, acute hospital with a large team of enthusiastic physiotherapists.  Regular professional development opportunities and relevant course attendance is supported.  Annual Practicing Certification (APC) is reimbursed, as is a large contribution towards PNZ membership.
