About the Role

We are seeking Consultant Psychiatrists to join our Adult General Mental Health Services in Christchurch. We welcome applications from Psychiatrists seeking full-time (preferred) or part-time permanent positions.

In this role, you will work as part of an integrated Adult General Service, providing specialist psychiatric input across crisis, inpatient and community settings. You will manage a varied and stimulating caseload and contribute to assessment, treatment planning, and ongoing care for tangata whaiora with acute and complex mental health needs.

Our Adult General Mental Health Service in Canterbury supports a population of almost 700,000 people across the region. The service operates within a well-established, integrated model, working closely with inpatient units, crisis resolution teams, and community services.

About You

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will bring:

  • Fellowship with the RANZCP or equivalent qualification
  • Eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • Proven experience in Adult Mental Health (inpatient, outpatient, crisis, AOD, and/or rehabilitation settings)
  • Strong clinical leadership skills and a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach
  • A commitment to equitable, culturally responsive, and patient-centred care
