The Team: What we do
AIG - Adult Inpatient Group consists of 6 inpatient units that provide for the acute psychiatric needs of the adult population in the Canterbury region.
We currently have vacancies in all six unit.
Te Awakura is a 64 beds adult acute inpatient unit that provides 24 hour care for consumer with mental illness. Our model of care focuses on single integrated multidisciplinary teams, incorporating inpatient and outpatient teams, providing excellent care to consumer in the least restrictive manner. It consists of four open 16 bed acute inpatient units called North South East and West unit.

- Supporting consumers towards recovery.
- Working in partnership with consumers, their family / whanau / carers and wider community supports to facilitate the best treatment outcomes
- Providing treatment with privacy and dignity in a socially inclusive least restrictive environment, recognising the consumer’s cultural and spiritual needs
- Providing a safe environment.
Seager Unit is an adult inpatient unit based at The Princess Margaret Hospital that provides extended care for people who have high and complex mental health needs
Tupuna Villa is an adult inpatient extended treatment unit that caters for consumers with high and complex mental and physical needs. The consumers’ age range is 41- 75years
