  • Christchurch - Christchurch Health Campus - Perioperative Surgical Admission Unit’s – ASAW (Adult Surgical Admissions Waipapa), CSAW (Children’s Surgical Admissions Waipapa), Ward 18 – DOSA (Day of Surgery Admissions) and DSU (Day Surgery Unit).
  • Permanent part-time working 24 hours per week starting at either 6am/6.30am , 8 hours days Monday to Friday (days are negotiated at interview)

About the Role

This Administration role services the Perioperative Surgical Admission Units that admit patients for acute and elective operations from all surgical specialties Monday to Friday. With the support of clinical kaimahi (staff), you will carry out tasks to tautoko (support) the clinical kaimahi (staff) in the Perioperative Surgical Admission Units.

We are looking for an amazing administrator who is welcoming and friendly. If you can prioritise multiple work tasks, enjoy working in a high-functioning kapa (team), and have a passion for arranging administration tasks for our tūroro (patients) we would like to hear from you. Our ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, and once you understand the tasks and systems can be self-directed.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating admissions and admitting patients to our Perioperative Surgical Admission Units which include the Day Surgery Unit, Ward 18-DOSA, Adult Surgical Admissions Waipapa and Children’s Surgical Admissions Waipapa
  • Working with a variety of patient management systems
  • Ensuring all information is collated, patient records are complete and managed
  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Supporting Nursing and other Perioperative team members

About you

Skills and Experience

  • Excellent customer care skills – able to relate to tūroro (patients) and their whānau in a courteous and helpful manners;
  • Technically savvy – quick at picking up new applications/systems;
  • Excellent organisational, time management and problem-solving skills;
  • Computer skills including MS Office (Word, Outlook and Excel);
  • Ability to achieve accuracy and maintain attention to detail;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work unsupervised;
  • Experience using Patient Management Systems would be an advantage however full training will be provided in this.
