About the Role

The Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation division are looking for an Advanced (designated) Physiotherapist to provide clinical oversight and services to our Older Persons Rehabilitation patients. The team is made up of 12 Physiotherapists and 5 Physiotherapy assistants.

You would work collaboratively with the Clinical team Lead for this cluster and be responsible for clinical standards, quality and audit, assisting with implementing new and innovative ways of working as well as supporting any clinicians new to practice.This role is designed to work within the pathways for this group of patients to ensure excellent outcomes,  providing clinical oversight of the inpatient rehab service.

Experience in orthogeriatric and geriatric rehabilitation, delegation to unregistered staff and the ability to liaise across multiple teams of clinicians is essential. We are particularly keen to hear from clinicians with a passion for continuous improvement.

This role will also include participation in the weekend roster within the inpatient setting as deemed appropriate by the Clinical Manager.

 In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out effective patient assessment, evaluation and treatments in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice
  • Formulating treatment interventions to meet individual needs in collaboration with the wider multi-disciplinary team
  • Ensuring effective communication with other members of the physiotherapy team and wider MDT team, including  Orthopaedic Surgeons, Geriatricians, and leadership within OPH&R

About You

This is a secondment opportunity for existing Health New Zealand employees only, to be successful in this role your skills will include:

  • The ability to hit the ground running with the energy and passion to deliver a high standard of care to patients
  • The ability to develop a close working relationship with physiotherapy assistants and the wider physiotherapy team
  • Flexibility and adaptability with an enthusiasm for knowledge sharing across and beyond your discipline
  • The ability to communicate clearly with a wide variety of professionals
  • Have in depth knowledge of Older Persons Rehab and Evidence based practice
  • Have an interest in reviewing clinical care pathways and looking at different ways of working
  • You will either be an existing ENABLE assessor or eligible for registration.

It is essential that you are a New Zealand Registered Physiotherapist with a current practicing certificate to be considered for this role.You will be required to participate on the weekend roster, the amount, the day and the type of roster is negotiable.
