About the role

We are looking for an experienced administrator to join the Allied Health Administration Team at Christchurch Hospital.

In this role you will be part of a team that provides front of house cover, scheduling of outpatient bookings and staff administrative support necessary to enable co-ordinated care for our patients and staff

As part of the Administration and Clerical Pay Equity Claim settlement this role has been mapped to National Band 4/Profile 4A

  • Personable, patient/customer focused approach to your work with the ability to relate to others in a courteous and compassionate manner
  • Sound computer skills including knowledge of MS Office
  • Superb organisation, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent relationship building skills, coupled with the ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy
  • Flexibility to assist other Allied Health Teams across Christchurch campus
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and experience using a Patient Management System would be a distinct advantage, however full training will be provided by our supportive administrative team. 

About the Team/Service/ Location

Allied Health is a term used to describe the broad range of health professionals who are not doctors, dentists or nurses. Allied Health includes Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Therapy, Nutrition & Dietetic Services, Social Work, Child Development Services and Hauora Maori Health.

Skills and experience

Essential:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Technically savvy with quick learning ability.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to achieve accuracy and maintain attention to detail.
  • Work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent keyboard knowledge with Dictaphone skills.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated perceptiveness and proactive approach to assisting Hauora Maori.

Desired:

  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and biculturalism.
  • Broad administrative experience in a health-related field.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with public hospital systems.
  • Awareness of people of differing cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to develop office systems and introduce procedures.
  • Prioritization skills and ability to work independently.
