Allied Health Assistant – ACTS


Start Date – 14th April 2026
Hours – 1.0FTE (40 hours a week)
Shifts – Monday - Friday 0800 -1630
Status – Fixed term, through to April 2027
Location – The Princess Margaret Hospital, Christchurch
Salary – Starting from $34.65 per hour. Based on the PSA Allied, Public Health and Technical collective agreement.
Note – Full drivers license is essential

About the Role

An exciting opportunity for an Allied Health Assistant to join our Adult Community Therapy Service!

The Adult Community Therapy Service (ACTS) delivers allied health services to adults with disabilities or complex health conditions.

We are looking for an Allied Health Assistant who is passionate about working alongside people with complex needs and enabling them to live well within their community.  You will work under the supervision of registered allied health professionals, assisting our clinicians to deliver therapy.  You’ll also be providing adaptive equipment and undertaking client education as prescribed. 

You will receive training to ensure that you can work to the top of your scope within this Allied Health Assistant role.

This is a busy, varied role, where you are guaranteed a varied case load and will work with clients and their support people at home, in the community and in clinic settings.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Completing tasks prescribed and supervised by our registered therapists
  • Completing phone interviews with patients
  • Dropping off and setting up therapy equipment in the community
  • Clerical/Reception duties as required including record keeping and updating patient files where appropriate

About You

  • Providing education and resources, where appropriate, to the client and their family/whānau
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with a diverse group of people from varying backgrounds
  • The ability to take direction and carry out tasks autonomously
  • An acute awareness and respect for the importance of patient confidentiality
  • The ability to be flexible and adapt to a fast-paced environment in a time of change
  • Experience working with adults with complex needs including a variety of neurological conditions  and a background in health and inpatient work is advantageous
  • As travel is required, a full NZ Driver’s License and the ability to drive manual vehicles is essential
