Allied Health Assistant / Kaiāwhina - CREST
Start Date – As soon as possible
Hours – 0.5FTE - 1.0FTE (20 - 40 hours a week) - Please state in your cover letter the hours you are seeking

Status – Permanent, part and full time
Location – The Princess Margaret Hospital, Christchurch
Salary – Starting from $72,074. Based on the PSA Allied, Public
Health and Technical collective agreement.

About the Role

for an exciting and rewarding career in Allied Health? We are looking for multiple Allied Health Assistants/ Kaiāwhina (AHA) to join our growing team!
You will work closely alongside Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists
delivering the best support and care to our patients. You will bring a
strong desire to be part of a team, dedicated to continued learning and
building and maintaining strong relationships.
Community Rehabilitation Enablement & Support Team (CREST) helps clients in
their safety and rehabilitation needs. CREST delivers a short, sharp
service up to six weeks, focusing on helping people return home from hospital
and supporting clients to remain well at home with rehabilitation and treatment
and support services.
The primary function of these roles will be enabling same day discharge, this will include transporting clients post discharge, ensuring they are able to access pharmacies, equipment and shopping as required to ensure patients are set up for success in their recovery.
Tasks will include:
- Supporting patient’s rehabilitation and treatment
- Carrying out treatment plans as delegated by a registered Allied Health Therapist
- Delivering and set up of equipment
- Transportation of patients and supporting their discharge needs
- Supervision of exercise/activity programmes as delegated by the Allied Health Therapist
- Obtaining and maintaining clinical notes as requested by the Allied Health Therapist
- Helping other departments if required
About You
We are seeking enthusiastic AHA's with a 'can do' attitude to join our team in these permanent roles. Whilst no graduate qualifications are required and on the job training will be provided, previous experience as an Allied Health Assistant, particularly within in a community setting is desirable. A good level of literacy and comprehension and confidence using digital devices is essential. A NZQA Level 3 certificate in health is desirable, however if you have not achieved this you will be supported to work towards this qualification once you are settled into our team. Successful applicants will also demonstrate:

- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to follow direction to assist in the delivery of treatment and rehabilitation plans
- Willingness to learn and upskill
- Focus on being a team player, with a 'can do' attitude
- Strong organisational & time management skills
- Basic computer skills are essential
- A full NZ drivers licence is essential
- Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its relevance to health
- A NZQA Level 3 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing is desirable
