Allied Health Assistant - Occupational Therapy


  • Hours – 1.0FTE (40 hours a week)

  • Salary – Starting from $72,074 to $86,719. Based on experience as per the PSA Allied, Public Health and Technical collective agreement.

About the Role

We have an opportunity for an Allied Health Assistant to join us at Burwood Hospital in our wider Older Person’s Health and Rehabilitation Service.

This role is within an inpatient setting, working with people who have significant medical conditions and require a hospital admission. You will work closely with a team of Occupational Therapists and other Allied Health Assistants and be part of a wider multidisciplinary team. The position involves working under the direction of Occupational Therapists in the smooth running of the service provision and delivery of activities and treatments within the ward setting.

This involves 1:1 patient activities including equipment set up and education, supporting patients with practicing independent activities of daily living such and transferring, personal cares and domestic task. There will be the need follow treatment plans and to support patient in activities in a group

About You

You will bring a strong desire to be part of a team with an eagerness to be your best and be dedicated to continued learning and striving for the best patient outcomes. Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to follow directions are essential to your success for delivering treatment in a rehabilitation hospital environment. You will also have good basic computer skills. You will need to be able to support the administration of equipment tracking, ordering as well as installation.

Applicants who do not hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Social and Community Services (Level 3), must be open to completing this training as part of their appointment. You will also be able to demonstrate the following:
