Allied Health Assistant - Physiotherapy

About the Role

Our Outpatient Orthopaedic Rehabilitation team are seeking a Physiotherapy Assistant with previous experience in a hospital inpatient setting to join us at the Burwood Campus as part of our wider Older Person’s Health and Rehabilitation Service. This is an exciting opportunity to refine your skills as an Allied Health Assistant and develop your career in healthcare!

This is a fixed term, full-time (40hr per week) opportunity until 11th December 2026. The days and hours required are Monday and Friday, 0800-1630.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting your Physiotherapist colleagues in delivering treatment and rehabilitation plans in a rehabilitation outpatient setting
  • Previous experience monitoring and supervising Hydrotherapy Programmes
  • Current CPR certificate
  • Advanced competency in delivering exercise programmes while working independently
  • Strong verbal and computer literacy
  • Strong clinical assessment skills within your scope of practice for a Physiotherapy Assistant
  • The setting out of equipment in preparation for physiotherapy sessions or meetings as required;
  • The maintenance and monitoring of supplies and equipment within the department.
  • Some administrative tasks including filing and processing clinical files
  • Working in an inpatient setting as required

About You

Your skills will include:

  • You should hold a suitable rehabilitation or exercise qualification
  • A strong desire to be part of a team and an eagerness to be your best;
  • NZ driving licence is essential and experience in a manual car is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years Orthopaedic Physiotherapy/ Assistant experience and you have a proven record in providing clinical care under the supervision of a Physiotherapist.
  • Dedication to continued learning and striving for the best patient outcomes;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to follow direction;
  • Flexibility with the ability to work in a variety of ward areas with different teams from day to day;
  • Previous experience in a similar therapy assistant role with a good understanding of health is essential. 
  • Comfortable in a water environment
