Allied Health Assistant – Te Whare Manaaki

About the Role

Te Whare Manaaki is a Medium Secure Forensic Unit, which provides specialist care for people who, as a result of a mental illness, have seriously offended or are assessed as being at high risk of serious offending. Priding itself on a sustained commitment to quality improvement, the Forensic Mental Health Service is a fulfilling and dynamic environment to work in. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with a caring and compassionate nature, will see you excel in this area. We pride ourselves on working collaboratively as a team and in partnership with tangata whaiora and their family/whānau. 

This role will see you working under the direction and delegation of an allied health staff member as part of the wider multidisciplinary team, with a primary focus on supporting the delivery of the therapeutic activity programme. You will support tangata whaiora to access leave for meaningful activities, build confidence and independence, and develop the skills and routines that support rehabilitation and transition back into the community. You will also assist allied health staff with a range of tasks that contribute to rehabilitation and discharge planning, community reintegration, and a positive experience for tangata whaiora during their time on the ward.

  • Confidence in supporting consumers to engage in activity
  • Current Drivers Licence
