Allied Health Assistant Team Leader

About the Role
The Allied Health Assistant Team Leader provides day to day operational leadership for the Allied Health Assistant team in the Central Locality (Greymouth) including staff rosters, workload management and recruitment. The role also provides professional leadership for the Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand, TeTai o Poutini West Coast, Allied Health Assistant team supporting best practice, professional development and process/policy consistency and development.
You will be the voice for Allied Health Assistants within the Allied Health Leadership team and contribute to the strategic planning of Allied Health.
The role is 0.5FTE leadership and 0.5FTE clinical.
As the Allied Health Assistant Team Leader you will:
- Provide day to day management and/or supervision of Allied Health Assistants in the Central Te Tai o Poutini West Coast area
- Provide professional leadership for Te Whatu Ora Te Tai o Poutini West Coast, Allied Health Assistant team
- Assist with prioritisation of Allied Health Assistant tasks and movement of staff to meet service needs
- Be involved in service and policy development, quality improvement activities, and goal setting
- Working alongside Allied Health Leadership team
- Clinical work
About the Team
The Allied Health Assistants are a team of unregistered health workers supporting Allied Health professionals (Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Language Therapy & Social Workers) and are passionate about improving the health outcomes of our community.
The team are based in three locations with five AHA in Greymouth, three in Westport and two in Hokitika. The team covers all aspects of in-patients, out-patients and community settings throughout the West Coast (Karamea to Haast) working within a Rural Generalist model of care.
About You
You will be an Allied Health Assistant with a minimum of two years clinical experience and the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZQA Level 4, or Level 3 and working towards Level 4) with a passion for leadership and developing the profession.
Other desirable attributes include:
- Experience with teaching, training and development of staff
- Experience in quality/service improvement activities
- Experience in people leadership or management
- Knowledge of te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
