The Team
The Department of Anaesthesia is a large department which provides acute and planned anaesthesia services in Christchurch across two main campuses, Christchurch Public and Burwood Hospital. Surgical services are provided for all the main surgical specialities including Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Neurosurgery, Trauma, Paediatric/Neonatal surgery and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Tertiary services provided for patients from outside Canterbury include Acute Spine, Oncological surgery and endovascular clot retrieval. The department is accredited for training by ANZCA and has a large number of trainees.
The Role:
We are seeking Provisional Fellows in Anaesthesia who will be based at Christchurch Hospital. The department has 2 positions available:
1) End of January 2025 to the end of January2026
2) July 2025 to the end of January 2026(with potential to extend to 12-18 months)
The Provisional Fellow positions are accredited by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and offer an ideal bridge between registrar training and consultant practice.
Provisional Fellows are given an increased level of responsibility and manage a wide range of elective and acute cases. Where possible, sub-specialty interests will be accommodated.
Applicants must have passed the Final Fellowship Examination and be entering their fifth year of training (or equivalent).
