The Team
The Department of Anaesthesia at Christchurch Hospital is a large, dynamic
department delivering acute and elective anaesthesia services across two
campuses – Christchurch Public and Burwood Hospitals. We support all major
surgical specialties including Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Neurosurgery, Trauma,
Paediatric/Neonatal surgery, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Tertiary services
include Acute Spine, Oncological surgery, and endovascular clot retrieval. We
are an ANZCA-accredited training site with a large cohort of trainees and
fellows.
The
Opportunity
We are currently seeking expressions of interest from from doctors who have
completed ANZCA advanced training or equivalent interested in short-term Provisional Fellow
positions of 3 or 6 months duration, with commencement dates
between July 2025 and the end of January 2026.
These roles are ideal for those looking to bridge the gap between training and consultant work, gain international experience, or enjoy a working holiday in one of New Zealand’s most vibrant regions.
You will have the opportunity to work independently with an increased level of responsibility, managing a wide range of elective and acute cases. Where possible, we will accommodate sub-specialty interests.
Who Should Apply
You must:
- Have passed Final Anaesthetic Exam (ANZCA or equivalent) and are entering 5th year of Anaesthesia training or equivalent.
- Have a demonstrated interest in providing high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment.
- Be available for a 3–6 month fixed-term contract between July 2025 and January 2026.
