About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Anaesthetic Technician/ODP to join our dedicated cardiothoracic subspecialty team who will have a focus on Cardiothoracic surgeries whilst also maintaining your general competence  by working across all other sub-specialties we offer. This unmissable role will give you the opportunity to work to deepen your clinical expertise in the biggest Cardiothoracic centre in the South Island. This means you will be working alongside some of the regions most experienced consultants covering specialised and diverse cases such as off-pump CABG's, acute dissections and fascinating cardiac cath lab procedures. 

In this role you will work alongside our cardiothoracic Anaesthetic Technicians on a rotating roster of 10 hour shifts with an on-call component. You will still work across all other sub-specialties to ensure your technical skills are maintained. 

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Provide professional, technical and clinical assistance to Anaesthetists
  • Provide safe administration of anaesthesia to patients
  • Anticipate problems and exceptional patient care
  • Co-ordinate documentation to ensure the patient receives effective care
  • Mentoring early career and student Anaesthetic Technicians/ RNAA's

About You

To be successful in this role you will:

  • A recognised qualification within New Zealand or international equivalent
  • Registration with the Medical Sciences Council or eligibility to obtain
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Interest/Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery with the desire to grow this skillset
  • Motivated to embrace challenges and change
  • 3 + years Clinical experience is desirable but not essential
