About the Role

The Acute Medical Assessment Unit (AMAU) based at Christchurch Hospital, is a fast-paced 36 bed unit caring for a wide variety of acutely unwell patients. This position is perfect for you as a senior nurse to take that next step and grow and develop your career in an exciting and challenging AMAU role.

 

We’re looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to manage the patient flow and lead and coordinate the team on the unit on a rotational shift basis. Liaison and coordination with GP’s, Duty Managers, the medical team, emergency department as well as all staff on the ward is a vital part of this role. In addition to the coordination of the unit, you will also have responsibility for a portfolio(s) such as; education, rostering or health and safety.

 

With strong leadership skills and background in acute medical nursing, you will be armed with the skills to tackle this role. Quick and strategic thinking, problem solving, sound interpersonal skills and impeccable management of complex situations are imperative as you interact with a wide range of people in a pressured environment.

 

It will be fast paced, challenging, diverse and it is imperative to the patient flow of Christchurch Hospital.

Working:

  • Part - time – 0.7 FTE rostered shifts to suit service requirements

 

Skills & Experience:

 

  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC with proven clinical expertise within acute nursing
  • Initiative, solution focused with excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively and efficiently complete tasks.
  • Motivated and flexible self-starter with the ability to work both in a team and autonomously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsand the proven ability to engage people at all levels.
  • You will either hold or be working towards a relevant post graduate qualification.
