About the role

The CAF South Community Mental Health team provides assessment and treatment services for under-18-year-old consumers with major mental illnesses. The team is multi-disciplinary and serves approximately 320 consumers across the South area of Christchurch and surrounding districts. This role interfaces closely with the Nga Kākano inpatient team and other CAF services to provide care for consumers and their families/whanau.

About You

We seek an enthusiastic, experienced, dynamic Senior Registered Nurse or Allied Health professional who could see themselves leading the Child, Adolescent and Family Service, South Community Mental Health team, based at Sylvan Street, Hillmorton

This key position works alongside the operational ACM who manages the clinical functions of the south community mental health team. This role specifically involves waitlist management, ACM duties and working clinically within a multi-disciplinary team.

Being part of the Specialist Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health Services, you will have excellent clinical skills as well as an ability to ensure operational objectives are carried out in line with the Specialist Mental Health Te Whatu Ora vision. As (0.8FTE) this position is an opportunity to work both in management and have clinical input. Ideally you will have an extensive mental health background, with experience of team management in a multidisciplinary team setting preferred. 

In this role, you will:

Facilitate and provide high-quality professional practice and provide expert leadership within our service.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and ability to manage the CAF waitlist effectively.
  • Support the operational ACM to coordinate the functioning of staff daily, including developing and maintaining systems to provide quality and continuity of consumer care.
  • Ensuring training needs are identified and educational and development opportunities are recognised.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work in an integrated and collaborative manner with our inpatient teams and across the wider mental health system.
