About the Role

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit based at Christchurch Women’s Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Senior NICU nurse to step into a management role. You will have demonstrated leadership skills and clinical expertise to provide coordination and professional leadership, support and guidance within the Neonatal Service in the role of an Associate Clinical Nurse Manager (ACNM).

The Neonatal Service at Christchurch Women’s Hospital is an acute service providing secondary/tertiary care to Newborn babies born prematurely or with surgical, congenital and medical complications following birth. We are a 44 bedded unit compromised of 12 intensive care and 32 special care cot’s and our catchment area is approximately 20,000 square kilometres of the South Island.

About You

As a senior member of the neonatal multidisciplinary team, the successful applicant will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to provide effective clinical leadership, direction and support to the neonatal nursing staff. The ability to problem-solve, make key decisions and confront/resolve issues is imperative to ensuring the provision of safe effective evidence-based quality care to the infants and families of the Neonatal Services. This position will also carry an individual specialty portfolio. You will be given a thorough orientation and supported with your ongoing professional development.

Essential requirements:

  • A Minimum of 5 years recent neonatal intensive care experience.
  • Demonstrates advance nursing skills comparable to senior nurse or expert PDRP with experience and understanding of the neonatal journey working across all levels of neonatal care.
  • Advanced understanding of and proven commitment to, working in partnership with our service users, their families/whanau and other health service providers in the community.
