Booking Coordinator - Christchurch Hospital
- Christchurch – Christchurch Health Campus – Oncology Department
- Permanent part-time position working 32 hours per week Monday to Thursday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

About the Role
As a Booking Coordinator, you will work closely with clinicians, service managers, and administrative teams to manage patient bookings and support service delivery. You will help ensure booking practices align with Health New Zealand and Ministry of Health guidelines, while maintaining accurate records and contributing to health target achievement.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage outpatient and inpatient bookings, including planned care procedures.
- Support the smooth operation of clinics through effective patient scheduling and administration.
- Maintain accurate and auditable patient records within clinical and patient management systems.
- Communicate booking information clearly and professionally to patients and whānau.
- Monitor clinic utilisation and assist with waitlist management to support timely access to care.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams to achieve service goals.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, clinicians, and colleagues while maintaining patient confidentiality.
About You
You will be an organised and proactive administrator with excellent customer service skills and a passion for supporting patient care.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Outstanding customer service skills with a people-focused approach.
- Strong organisational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience working with databases and information systems, with the ability to quickly learn new applications.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong keyboard skills (50-70 words per minute).
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
Desired Experience
- Administrative experience within a healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Familiarity with public hospital systems and patient management systems.
- An understanding of working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
