  • Permanent part time opportunity 0.6FTE (48 hours per fortnight) based at Christchurch Health Campus
  • Hours of work are between Monday - Friday 0800 - 1630 with on call hours required
  • Registration with the MRTB and a current Annual Practicing certificate are essential

About the Role

Join our dedicated Echo Team, a small specialist group working closely with our Echo Consultants and forming an essential part of our wider cardiac technical service. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cardiac Sonographer looking to contribute to a collaborative, patient‑centred environment while enjoying the stability of a permanent part‑time position, including participation in the on‑call roster.

As a key member of the Echo Team, you will play an important role in delivering high‑quality diagnostic services that directly support patient care and clinical decision‑making. You’ll work with a diverse patient population, ensuring each patient receives the highest standard of care.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform and report transthoracic echocardiograms, conduct exercise echos, and assist with dobutamine stress echos (DSEs) within the Echo Department
  • Maintain professional integrity, upholding ethical standards while demonstrating accountability and sound clinical judgement
  • Provide supervision, mentorship, and hands‑on clinical training to students and trainees, supporting the growth of future professionals
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping develop and refine departmental standards, protocols, and service quality
  • Ensure your own ongoing competency by maintaining current knowledge, participating in relevant training, and meeting all clinical and regulatory requirements

About You

You will be an experienced Cardiac Sonographer who meets MRTB requirements and brings a patient‑centred, collaborative approach. Specifically, you will have:

  • Current NZ MRTB registration with a cardiac scope and a current APC
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Cardiac Ultrasound (or equivalent qualification)
  • 2+ years clinical experience
  • Strong organisation, technical skill, and an empathetic approach to patient care
  • A commitment to learning, development, and growth
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
