About the role

This Carpenter role is part of the Health NZ Waitaha Canterbury’s Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) Team. They are the passionate and dedicated people who keep our facilities operating by maintaining, repairing, and monitoring the technology, systems, and buildings that help keep our hospitals running.

This is a full-time permanent role that will be based at Christchurch Hospital, which requires you to work Monday to Friday. Some out-of-hours work may be required.

Salary - $73,645 plus phone, uniform and footwear and tool allowance.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintenance and repairs of systems across the Health NZ Canterbury sites
  • Regular inspection of the joinery and infrastructure
  • Assisting other trade staff on any type of Maintenance and Engineering related work
  • Reporting any plant or equipment which appears to be faulty or requires maintenance
  • Complete work orders
  • Procurement of materials
  • Supplier quotes are organised.

About you

This role requires the following:

  • A Trade Certificate
  • Experience in building statutory requirements
  • Exposure to and understanding of the New Zealand Building Code
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Flexible, adaptable, and resilience skills
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
