Casual Healthcare Assistant | Kaikōura Health
Start
Date – As soon as possible.
Shifts – Morning, afternoon and nights; Monday to Sunday.
Status – This is a casual role with no guaranteed hours or days. In
this role you will be covering sick (oncall) and annual leave.
Location - Kaikōura Health (Te Hā o Te Ora)
Salary – Based on the
NZNO Nursing and Midwifery collective agreement.

About the Role
Kaikoura Health are looking for Casual Kaiāwhina (Health Care Assistants) to join our wonderful rural kapa (team). These roles are casual and therefore do not have a guarantee of set hours, but is a great opportunity to tautoko (support) and give back to your community.
This role varies from day to day depending on the requirements of Kaikoura Health, but ultimately you will be there to work in collaboration with the nursing teams to make sure that the facility is running smoothly and to its highest potential; in both Long Term Care and the Medical Acute area. This could mean preforming a variety of tasks such as:
- Tautoko (support) the nursing team to provide manaaki and awhina to both residents and tūroro (patients) with personal cares and their activities of daily living. This includes;
- Assistance with meals
- Moving and handling
- Hygiene cares
- Cleaning and tidying the ward, stocking and supply ordering
Skills and Experience
You will have the following skills to be successful in this role:
- Strong customer service skills
- Fantastic organisation skills & the ability to learn quickly
- Ability to communicate and build relationships with people from all walks of life
- You will have a kind and caring nature
- A strong work ethic is an integral part of this role. The areas can be a challenging and busy work environment so your ability to multi task and use your initiative will be key to this role.
- Knowledge of Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori, Te Ao Māori is desirable
