Mō te tūnga - About the Role

  • Casual shifts - Monday to Sunday - Morning, Afternoon and Nights

Healthcare Assistants are instrumental in providing care to our patients, and we currently have casual vacancy based in Tuarangi Home in Ashburton.  

As a Healthcare Assistant you will assist nursing staff with patient cares whilst maintaining a safe and clean work environment. You will enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team, have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, a high level of confidentiality and the ability to work well under pressure.

This role is primarily based in Tuarangi Home, however at times you may be required to work in some of the other wards at Ashburton Hospital.

  • Tuarangi Home is a Residential Care facility (close to the main Ashburton Hospital) that provides hospital level and dementia care at both rest home and hospital levels.
  • Ashburton Hospital provides a range of Inpatient health services; both acute, and assessment treatment and rehabilitation.

This is a casual role with no guaranteed hours or days. In this role you will be covering sick (oncall) and annual leave. Salary starting from $60,100 to $70,358 per annum. Based on the NZNO Nursing and Midwifery collective agreement

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and empathetic candidate who is able to bring their passion to Tuarangi Aged Care Facility.

The successful candidate must be able to work all shifts Morning, Afternoon and Nights.

Full training will be provided to all new staff joining our team. 

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako - Skills and Experience

  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and team work
  • Knowledge of and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Previous experience working with people with dementia is advantageous, but not essential
  • A certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3 or 4) or a willingness to work towards one
