Casual Mental Health Assistants - Pool | Hillmorton Hospital
- Shifts – 24/7 Rotating roster. Morning 7am – 3:40pm, Afternoon 3:10pm – 11:10pm, Night 10:50pm – 7:20am

- Location – Hillmorton Hospital, Annex Road South, Middleton, Christchurch.

About the Role
Mental Health Assistants are instrumental in providing care to patients and supporting the clinical team. As a Mental Health Assistant you will assist nursing staff with patient cares whilst maintaining a safe and clean work environment on the ward.
You will be providing cover across inpatient services; including acute adult admitting units, high/ complex needs services, intellectual disabilities, forensics, specialty services, Mothers and Babies, Eating Disorders, Alcohol and Drug, and child and youth services.
This role is based in the casual Pool for Specialist Mental Health Services. The Pool covers services that are short staffed. Most of our services are based at Hillmorton Hospital however you may be asked to cover at The Princess Margaret Hospital from time to time.

Skills and Experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage well
- Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Initiative and a proactive approach to work
- Ideally experience as a Hospital Aide or similar
- Mental Health experience is highly desirable
