Catering Assistants | Burwood
Location: Christchurch – Burwood Hospital
Hours: 30 or 40 hours per week (each role includes 1 weekend day per week and are 10-hour shifts)
Start Date: Mid-January 2025
Position Type: Permanent (both part-time and full-time positions available)
About this Role
WellFood is seeking motivated, reliable, and punctual Catering Assistants to joinour team at Burwood Hospital. In this role, you will work as part of a large, dynamic team, collaborating with other Catering Assistants, Kitchen Assistants, and Cooks to provide an exceptional dining experience for our patients.
These roles offer the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of patients while gaining valuable experience in a healthcare setting. All training will be provided, and no food preparation is required – your main responsibilities will include assembling and delivering meal trays, assisting patients with menu choices, and ensuring the highest standard of service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver meal and beverage services to patients in their wards
- Assist patients in understanding and selecting menu options
- Assemble meal trays and deliver them to the wards while providing excellent customer service to patients and their whānau
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Be on your feet for most of the shift, including pushing trolleys and walking throughout the hospital
About the Team/Service/Location:
Burwood Hospital is one of New Zealand's centres of excellence for rehabilitation and elective orthopaedic surgery. Located in the heart of the community, Burwood Hospital offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including a specialized spinal unit, rehabilitation for those under 65, and care for older adults with physical and mental health needs.
About You:
We are looking for someone who has a passion for people, a positive and adaptable attitude, and strong customer service skills. While food handling experience is desirable, it is not essential – we are happy to provide all necessary training.
