About the Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Charge Anaesthetic Technician to lead our Anaesthetic Technician and Registered Nurse Anaesthetic Assistant team with passion and expertise. In this role, you will provide day-to-day leadership, operational management, and strategic planning to ensure the delivery of a sustainable, high-quality service that aligns with our organisational goals. As a key member of our team, you will also provide clinical leadership for the profession, focusing on workforce development, safe and high-quality care, and outcomes-focused practice.

We provide perioperative services across multiple sites and cover all specialties including obstetrics, trauma, paediatrics, and cardiac. We are an acute and elective centre that offers it all.

As an accredited training hospital, we recognise the importance of investing in our staff and offer a multitude of opportunities for both the professional development of our qualified team and for our future workforce. We support the perioperative practice degree programme and the registered nurse anaesthetic assistant (RNAA) training programme.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Lead the team to provide exceptional care daily
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
  • Drive best practices and interdisciplinary care models 
  • Ensure effective staffing, coordination and recruitment
  • Facilitate professional development opportunities
  • Contribute to strategic planning and resource allocation 
  • Promote positive workplace behaviours and accountability within the team

About You

You will have:

  • Minimum 5 years clinical experience
  • Registration with NZ Medical Sciences Council or NZ Nursing Council & Current APC
  • Proven people leadership/management
  • Knowledge of change management and Quality Improvement methodology
  • Financial management and effective budget
  • Strong decision-making skills in complex situations
  • Knowledge of issues affecting tāngata whaiora and equality within healthcare
