About the Role
We
have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Nursing leader to join our Acute
Orthopaedics Team and lead the nursing team in Ward A4 / A4 Progressive Care
Unit (PCU).
You
will be responsible for the day to day running of the service, working in
collaboration with Nursing and Service Leadership. Your interpersonal and
organisational skills will be used to provide sound leadership to the team of
Registered Nurses, Health Care Assistants and Ward Clerks. You will have a
strong focus on quality patient care and be skilled at allocation of resources
to achieve this.
Your ability to work effectively under the guidance of the Surgical Nursing
Director within the wider Surgical Cluster to ensure financial and operational
objectives are carried out in line with the Health New Zealand vision is
imperative to your success in this role.
About the Service
Ward
A4 is an Acute Orthopaedic and Spinal ward with an eye for excellence in
nursing care. It has one of two acute orthopaedic wards based at Christchurch
Hospital it has 32 beds and includes a dedicated 8 bed Progressive Care Unit.
About you
We
are looking for a collaborative senior nurse with strong interpersonal skills,
innovative thinking, the ability to problem solve and respond in this
fast-paced environment. You will have a strong team focus and be
committed to growing and supporting the team to deliver expert care.
- As a Senior Nurse you will have recent Acute Orthopaedics or other acute surgical experience and proven leadership skills supporting daily operational activity and patient flow
- Holds post graduate management qualification or working towards the same.
- Your expert communication, interpersonal skills and proven ability to engage people at all levels will see you work effectively and efficiently with a diverse group of teams to lead your team to provide advanced clinical care and nursing expertise to the patients and their families/whānau.
- By utilising your advanced knowledge and clinical skills in collaboration with nursing and medical staff, the multidisciplinary team and other external agencies you will contribute to the development and maintenance of high quality evidenced based patient care whilst also contributing to and developing, appropriate nursing standards and quality initiatives.
- You can problem solve and manage complex situations as they arise, redistributing nursing resources to ensure the optimal patient experience while supporting clinical delivery. Your sound interpersonal skills and impeccable management of complex situations enable you to work alongside a variety of clinicians to ensure care is delivered as required.
- You have a comprehensive understanding of competency in nursing and can work alongside individuals to support professional development.
- Excellent administrative, organisational and time management skills
- Have the vision and ability to accommodate and lead change
- Have a commitment to Health New Zealand’s vision and direction
- Familiar with operational and financial management.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software.
- Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
