Charge Nurse Manager - Ward A8

  • 1.0 FTE permanent full time position available for a senior nurse with strong leadership and management skills.
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC.
  • Should have strong communication and relationship building skills with the ability to liaise with a wide variety of people.

The Team: What we do

Based in our new Hagley building, Ward A8 will bring together Vascular and Stroke teams for the first time into a new environment. The ward will provide inpatient Vascular and Stroke services to a wide range of patients, many of whom have multiple co-morbidities. The clinical team encompasses senior and resident medical officers, allied health, nursing and others.

The Role: Where you fit in

This role will see you setting up the ward in collaboration with other service and clinical leads and driving an inclusive culture which blends the Vascular and Stroke staff into one team. Reporting to the Medical Nursing Director, you will be a senior Registered Nurse with experience working in medical and surgical settings. You will be responsible for managing the ward-based team (approximately 37 FTE) that includes Registered and Enrolled Nurses, Hospital Aides and Ward Clerks. You must be an excellent communicator and motivational leader. Previous experience with setting up new services and / or teams is highly desirable. You will be provided relevant training depending on your background.

Essential skills for the role:

  • Experience in relevant management and / or project roles with the ability to influence decision making and change.

  • Interpersonal skills and building relationships.

  • Strategic thinking and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.

  • Familiar with operational and financial management.

  • Holds a post graduate qualification or working towards same.

  • Competent user of Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software.
