About the Role

The Radiology Department at Te Nikau Hospital are on the lookout for efficient and flexible Radiographic Assistant to join our kapa (team). This is a varied role for someone with a passion for patient care and who is looking to develop their career in healthcare. 

This role is ever evolving and will be sure to keep you thinking.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing administrative support including accurate data entry, scanning, and reception duties while maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Assisting clinical staff with patient movement, procedure setup, room preparation, and maintaining clean, well‑stocked environments
  • Delivering patient‑focused care through positive patient identification, cultural sensitivity, and monitoring patient wellbeing
  • Safely operate and manage patient transfer equipment, reporting any maintenance issues promptly
  • Contributing to a safe, high‑quality Radiology service by following health and safety protocols and supporting service improvements
  • Communicating clearly and professionally with patients, colleagues, and external providers to support effective teamwork
  • Participating in ongoing learning, complete required training, and maintain skills relevant to the role
  • Supporting daily workflow by anticipating departmental needs, using initiative, and being flexible to meet service demands

About You

You’re a caring, organised and proactive team player who is passionate about supporting patients and clinical staff. While no prior radiology experience or formal qualification is required, you bring a genuine interest and enthusiasm for the field of Radiology and a desire to grow your skills in this environment.

You communicate clearly, handle busy situations calmly, and take pride in delivering safe, high‑quality support. You’re comfortable with administrative tasks, willing to learn new skills, and able to follow protocols carefully. Most importantly, you approach every interaction with empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to creating a positive, reassuring experience for patients and their whānau.

  • Excellent communication skills as well as great attention to detail and organisational skills
  • A natural team player, with the ability to see the bigger picture
  • The ability to work co-operatively in a large and busy environment
  • Knowledge of the Health Sector is beneficial
  • Experience in customer service is essential
  • Confidence using computer systems is essential
