Clinical Engineering Technician

About the Role

As a Clinical Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, calibration, and safety testing of medical equipment. You'll need to:

  • Install and commission new Health Technology (i.e. medical equipment/systems)
  • Support, verify, calibrate, repair and maintain Health Technology throughout its life cycle
  • Apply mathematical, science and engineering knowledge / concepts to inform and advise on processes and systems
  • Guide and advise clinical as well as non-clinical staff
  • Maintain quality and safety through performance testing, documentation and record keeping.

This is a permanent full-time role working 80 hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE), Monday to Friday.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our Clinical Engineering team of thirty staff focus on the management, maintenance, and utilisation of medical equipment and technology used in patient care.

About you

As a Clinical Engineering Technician, you will have or be:

  • Relevant tertiary engineering qualification New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) level 7 or equivalent level of practical experience
  • Registered as an Electrical Appliance Serviceperson with the Electrical Workers Registration Board
  • Experience repairing and maintaining medical devices
  • Experience repairing and maintaining dental equipment is desirable
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work well under pressure
  • Effective communication skills to interact with a wide range of staff
  • Attention to detail and a professional team player attitude
  • A dynamic self-starter, who is outcome/solution focussed.
