About the role | Mō te tūnga

The Clinical Manager Nutrition & Dietetics - Christchurch Campus is accountable for the professional leadership, cultural competence, business, and operational management of the Nutrition & Dietetics Service at Te Whatu Ora – Waitaha Canterbury. They are responsible for fostering excellence in practice standards and professional conduct and to provide assurance of the clinical safety of our Nutrition & Dietetic workforce.

In partnership with the Director of Allied Health, clinical managers and the Nutrition & Dietetic team, the Clinical Manager Nutrition & Dietetics - Christchurch Campus is accountable for developing, providing and monitoring a quality cost-effective clinical service which meets the accountability requirements of clinical staff, financial targets, service providers and the overall strategic direction of Te Whatu Ora – Waitaha Canterbury, to maximise quality outcomes for patients and their whanau.

We are looking for an experienced, effective leader to provide clinical leadership, oversight and management of the performance of our Nutrition & Dietetics Service and to drive productivity and continuous improvement in the quality-of-service delivery, to our patients and their whanau. You will safeguard high standards of care by creating an environment in which excellence and innovation in clinical care will succeed; you will achieve this through fostering excellence in practice standards and professional conduct and by identifying opportunities for change to clinical pathways and models of care.

Skills and experience | Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the relevant profession. 
• NZ Registration with the relevant professional body.
• A current Annual Practicing Certificate with the relevant professional body.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical work experience in the relevant field of specialty and environment, and in-depth knowledge of the NZ Health and Disability sector and issues affecting tāngata whaiora and equality of healthcare.
• Minimum 3 years senior leadership experience at a management level.
• Knowledge of change management and Quality Improvement methodology supplemented by experience leading change, projects, as well as practice and quality improvement initiatives across the service.
• Knowledge in financial management and experience in effective budget management.
• Experience with clinical teaching/supervision, training and staff development.
• Experience making judgements in complex situations and being a proactive problem solver.
• Post-graduate diploma (leadership or clinical), or certificate with evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to complete post graduate diploma within the role.
• Knowledge of NZ Health & Disability sector standards and the Privacy Act within a health context.
