This is a pivotal rural nursing leadership role where you will influence clinical excellence, workforce sustainability, and equitable health outcomes across Community Care services on the West Coast.

Working alongside Operational Managers, the Nurse Director Operations and Public Health teams, you will support and empower staff to deliver integrated, culturally competent, evidence-based care that improves outcomes for whānau and communities — with a strong focus on achieving equity for Māori.

This role is ideal for a senior nurse leader who is passionate about rural health, workforce development, and leading meaningful service change. 

About the role

As Clinical Nurse Manager, you will:

  • Provide clinical and professional leadership across Community Care services, with specific responsibility for District Nursing, Home Based Support Services and Clinical Nurse Specialists based in Central area of the West Coast
  • Support safe staffing, workforce planning, and performance management
  • Lead and support sustainable workforce development, recruitment, retention and succession planning
  • Champion culturally safe practice and equity for Māori in all service delivery
  • Lead service and practice improvements aligned to local and national strategy
  • Support professional development, supervision, and credentialing of nursing staff
  • Work collaboratively across teams to strengthen integration and improve the consumer/whānau journey
  • Contribute to audits, quality improvement, incident review, and service evaluation
  • Deputise and accept delegated responsibilities as required

You will act as a change agent, supporting service innovation and strengthening rural models of care across the West Coast health system. 

About you

You are a confident, experienced nurse leader who can balance clinical credibility with people leadership and system thinking.

You will have:

  • NZ Registered Nurse with current APC (no conditions)
  • Minimum 3 years’ post-registration experience (senior experience highly regarded)
  • Postgraduate qualification (PG Diploma minimum or working towards)
  • Experience leading teams, performance management and professional development
  • Strong understanding of culturally safe practice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
  • Experience working collaboratively across interprofessional teams
  • Ability to lead change, quality improvement, and service development
  • Full NZ driver’s licence
  • Computer literacy

Desirable:

  • Previous senior nursing leadership experience
  • Current PDRP portfolio
