Clinical Nurse Specialist – Cardiac Rehabilitation

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our Cardiac Rehabilitation service within the Cardio-Respiratory Integrated Specialist Services (CRISS) team. This is an advanced nursing role where clinical expertise is central, alongside responsibilities in leadership, education, research, and care coordination.
In this role, you will provide expert nursing care to patients with cardiac conditions, working collaboratively with patients, whānau, and the wider multidisciplinary team to optimise health outcomes. You will deliver advanced assessments, develop and implement evidence-based care plans, and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
You will also play a key leadership role by supporting and mentoring staff, contributing to clinical governance, and driving quality improvement and innovation across the service.
About the Service
The Cardiac Rehabilitation service sits within the CRISS team, a small, innovative, and collaborative service focused on delivering integrated care across hospital and community settings. The team is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centred care, supporting individuals with long-term cardiac conditions to achieve optimal health and wellbeing.
About You
You will be an experienced Registered Nurse with significant clinical expertise in cardiology. You will bring advanced assessment skills, a passion for improving patient outcomes, and the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current practising certificate
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a relevant clinical specialty or senior nursing role
- Postgraduate qualification (or working towards) in a relevant field
- Advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Proven leadership, education, and mentoring abilities
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A commitment to evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and ongoing professional development
