Clinical Nurse Specialist – Cardiology

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse with advanced clinical practice and a strong interest in Cardiology nursing to step up into a senior role. As the clinical nursing lead, you will support, mentor and act as a resource person for patients and whanau; the nursing team and other health professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion evidence-based practice and support implementation of new initiatives and projects
  • Provide specialist nursing expertise and clinical oversight within the Cardiology wards
  • Assess and support complex or deteriorating patients
  • Deliver bedside teaching, clinical coaching, and education sessions to support staff development
  • Support and monitor specialty learning, including competency completion in collaboration with the Nurse Educator
  • Contribute to development, review, and improvement of documentation, resources, and services
  • Provide senior clinical input and support to staff as required

About the Service

Cardiology includes a high care area, inpatient wards and Cardiology Day Unit / Cardiac Cath Labs. Nurses provide care to patients who present with a range of cardiology conditions requiring acute medical management and Cath Lab intervention. You will work closely with and be well supported by the Charge Nurse Manager, Nurse Educator and other Clinical Nurse Specialists in leading and supporting the teams and ensuring the delivery of high-quality nursing care.

About You

  • A positive role model in clinical leadership you will work collaboratively with the teams to ensure high standards of care are maintained and quality patient outcomes are achieved.
  • Provide valuable support, education and clinical expertise to help develop the nursing teams.
  • Promote nursing research, education and evidence-based practice.
  • Motivated, organised, exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to engage a wide range of people is paramount in this role.
  • Hold and/or working towards a relevant post graduate qualification and equivalent PDRP.
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC.
