About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a senior paediatric Registered Nurse to join a multi-disciplinary team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the High Dependency Unit.
The service is both diverse and challenging as they care for our paediatric patients who require specialist treatment for a wide range of diagnoses.
Shifts are set as per below with hours of work from 7:30am – 4:00pm
Week one: Thursday, Friday
Week two: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
This role is fixed-term due to parental leave from 17th August 2026 – 13th September 2027.
About the Service
Children’s High Care is an 8 bedded unit and supports patients under the care of all paediatric specialties who require a higher level of monitoring or more intensive nursing care. We have a variety of patient types including infants, children and young people with medical, surgical, oncology/ haematology conditions and injuries from trauma.
About You
You will bring strong paediatric assessment skills, broad clinical knowledge and the ability to provide expert nursing leadership within a multidisciplinary team. This role requires a clinician who can mentor and support nursing staff, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, auditing and performance development and help maintain a high standard of family-centred care.
As a respected role model, you will demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and time management skills, along with the clinical credibility needed to build and maintain effective working relationships across the service.
The successful candidate will have:
- Minimum of two years’ experience in child health
- Relevant postgraduate qualification, or commitment to undertake
- Commitment to child advocacy and quality family-focused care
- Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills
- Advanced clinical nursing knowledge
- Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current APC
