Clinical Nurse Specialist – Coronary Care

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse with advanced clinical practice and a strong interest in Cardiology nursing to step up into a senior role. As the clinical nursing lead, you will support, mentor and act as a resource person for patients and whanau; the nursing team and other health professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion evidence-based practice and support implementation of new initiatives and projects
  • Provide specialist nursing expertise and clinical oversight within CCU, including telemetry support across wards
  • Assess and support complex or deteriorating patients, including those in outlying areas and ICU transfers
  • Deliver bedside teaching, clinical coaching, and education sessions to support staff development
  • Support and monitor specialty learning, including competency completion in collaboration with the Nurse Educator
  • Contribute to development, review, and improvement of CCU documentation, resources, and services
  • Provide senior clinical input and support to CCU staff as required

About the Service

Coronary Care is a 9-bed high care unit for patients with cardiology conditions requiring continuous cardiac monitoring. It also provides centralised telemetry monitoring for other inpatient areas.

Nurses are specialised in cardiology and providing nursing care to patients who present with a range of cardiology conditions requiring acute medical management and Cath Lab intervention including structural heart and electrophysiology procedures.

You will work closely with and be well supported by the Charge Nurse Manager, Nurse Educator and other Clinical Nurse Specialists in leading and supporting the teams and ensuring the delivery of high-quality nursing care.

  • A positive role model in clinical leadership you will work collaboratively across Coronary Care with the whole team to ensure high standards of care are maintained and quality patient outcomes are achieved.
  • Provide valuable support, education and clinical expertise to help develop the nursing teams.
  • Promote nursing research, education and evidence-based practice.
  • Motivated, organised, exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to engage a wide range of people is paramount in this role.
  • Hold and/or working towards a relevant post graduate qualification and equivalent PDRP.
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC
