About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Nurse
Specialist (CNS) who has a passion for Women’s health and Oncology who will
enjoy carrying out the role alongside our current Gynaecology Oncology CNS for
the service.
This is an integral role in supporting the nursing and
wider teams, leading with clinical expertise, reviewing patients, triaging
referrals, managing and supporting patients in their cancer journey, attending
multidisciplinary meetings (MDMs), facilitating care pathways and collaborating
with primary, secondary and tertiary providers in oncology journeys, are all
key functions of the role.

About the Team and Service
The Gynaecology
Oncology team are an incredibly hard working and kind team that strive on
putting patients and their whanau at the centre of their care. You will work
closely with our Gynaecology Oncology SMOs, Fellows, Registrars,
Administrators, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurses and Cancer Nurse Coordinators
to provide care for wahine accessing our service.
The Gynaecology Oncology team support the whole South
Island for gynaecology oncology care and more recently is supporting the lower
North Island service too. This role is to support the increased demand in the
service as we require a second CNS to keep up with demand. When working in the
Gynaecology Oncology Service you will be rewarded with a great nursing

About You
Your clinical expertise and passion for women’s health will
enable you to provide expert care and valuable support to women. You will work
alongside the cancer nurse coordinators for our service as a team that is the key
contact for the patients and their family/whanau as well as health
professionals in navigating the health services to ensure efficient,
appropriate and timely care is delivered. You will also collaborate with
members of our senior nursing and management teams to develop and improve care
delivery across the service.
Having experience in a cancer and oncology care and/or gynaecology,
knowledge of regional and national standards in relation to cancer care, and
the ability to function both collaboratively and autonomously, will provide you
with the enablers to carry out this role. Having comprehensive knowledge and
understanding of health systems is an advantage.
- An experienced registered nurse with expert knowledge and skills in preferably oncology and/or gynaecology.
- Currently hold or be working towards a relevant post graduate qualification in nursing.
- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to be a specialist resource nurse for patients, and other clinicians.
- A solution focused approach to your work and the ability to problem solve and think on your feet
- Has a passion for Women’s Health and have a comprehensive understanding of the health inequities that exist in women’s health, with a will to mitigate these.
- Motivated, adaptable, flexible, and solution focussed.
- Able to use technology efficiently (e.g., excel, databases)
- Work well in a team as well as autonomously
- Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
- PDRP
proficient or senior nurse portfolio preferred.
