Clinical Nurse Specialist – Infection Prevention and Vascular Access
- 0.6 FTE permanent position available
- Demonstrated clinical nursing expertise in vascular access management and sound infection prevention knowledge
- Ability to work Monday to Friday between 08:00hrs and 20:00hrs according to service requirements

About the Role
Our integrated team Te Ratonga Ārai Mate - Infection Prevention and Control Service/Arakato o Tangaroa – Vessel Health Preservation and Intravenous Access is currently recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
In this role, you will work in partnership with clinical and non-clinical teams as well as other associated internal and external stakeholders to promote and uphold best practice in vessel health preservation and vascular access in the interests of patient safety. You will guide and promote appropriate infection prevention and control practices to minimise risk of complications associated with vascular access and intravenous therapy, particularly healthcare associated bloodstream infections.

About the Service
Our integrated team Te Ratonga Ārai Mate - Infection Prevention and Control Service/Arakato o Tangata – Vessel Health Preservation and Intravenous Access strategically deploys resources promoting best practice standards in infection prevention and control as well as vessel health preservation and intravenous therapy to uphold safety for patients, staff and visitors to our health care facilities.
About You
Self-motivated and organised with effective interpersonal skills and the ability to engage a wide range of people is paramount in this role. Your advanced clinical nursing knowledge, practice and skills in vascular access (including a range of intravenous therapies, peripheral cannulation and central venous access device (CVAD) management) is underpinned by sound understanding of infection prevention and control principles. Your previous experience as a senior nurse positions you perfectly to lead and guide colleagues in vascular access management.
Essential:
- Registered Nurse with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with current APC
- Relevant postgraduate qualification
