Clinical Nurse Specialist - Inflammatory Bowel Disease

About the Role
The Gastroenterology Department provides specialist gastrointestinal services to the Canterbury population and is a secondary and tertiary referral service for the South Island. It provides inpatient care, outpatient consultations, and diagnostic tests and therapies for over 4000 patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). The IBD team boasts world-renowned specialists who have extensive clinical and research experience. There is also a strong research programme that is recognised internationally, in addition to an active undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching programme.
Most of our gastroenterology nursing team work in the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit; a purpose-built facility with six procedures rooms and two recovery areas over two floors. It is a dynamic patient focused unit providing a comprehensive gastrointestinal service which is predominantly diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, in addition to several other diagnostic tests and therapies.
About you
As an expert in gastrointestinal, inflammatory bowel disease nursing you’ll have the ability to implement a nursing care model that supports service requirements and provide clinical leadership, role model and promote excellence in this area of nursing. You will act as a specialist resource for patients, medical practitioners and nurses.
- You will be an experienced practitioner, preferably with expert knowledge and skills in the inflammatory bowel disease specialty
- At least 3 years working either within the clinical speciality or relevant senior nursing role
- Proven leadership ability and solution focused approach, with the ability to implement a nursing care model that educates, supports and encourage others within team in achieving common service goals
- Holds or is actively working towards a relevant Post-graduate qualification
- You will act as a specialist resource for patients, medical practitioners and other nurses
- Be enthusiastic, and motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage a wide variety of people
- Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand
with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
