About the Role
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit based at Christchurch Women’s Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join their team in a senior nursing role as Clinical Nurse Specialist – Neonatal Discharge Facilitator.
This role places a focus on ensuring an efficient and timely discharge planning service for neonates and their families. Working within the clinical team and in partnership with the Discharge/Outreach team, the role supports a coordinated and seamless approach to care, ensuring a smooth transition from hospital to home.
About the Service
The Neonatal Service at Christchurch Women’s Hospital is an acute service providing secondary/tertiary care to Newborn babies born prematurely or with surgical, congenital and medical complications following birth. We are a 44 bedded unit compromised of 12 intensive care and 32 special care cots and our catchment area is approximately 20,000 square kilometres of the South Island.
About You
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse who is dynamic and motivated, with demonstrated leadership and teaching qualities. You will have a proven ability to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships at all levels, including within community settings. You will also have good knowledge and understanding of discharge planning and community-based care.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience and understanding of the neonatal journey with clinical experience working across all levels of neonatal care.
- Proven ability to offer leadership and education.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to engage a wide range of people
- Effective time management skills.
- Demonstrated teaching skills and computer literacy
- Advanced understanding of and proven commitment to, working in partnership with our service users, their families/whanau and other health service providers in the community.
- Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC
- Holds or actively working towards a relevant Post-graduate qualification relevant to the role.
