Clinical Nurse Specialist – Paediatric Allergy

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Paediatric Allergy service as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.

In this senior nursing role, you will work within the multidisciplinary team to assess and support tamariki and rangatahi with suspected or diagnosed allergies. You will provide specialist care, education and ongoing support to tamariki and whānau around allergy management, prevention and anaphylaxis.

Working across hospital and community settings, you will also provide specialist education and advice to health professionals, GPs, schools and preschools, while contributing to best practice, quality improvement and the ongoing development of the Paediatric Allergy service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing specialist assessment, care coordination and case management for tamariki with allergies.
  • Educating and supporting tamariki and whānau in allergy and anaphylaxis management.
  • Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support assessment, diagnosis and ongoing care.
  • Providing education and specialist advice to health professionals and community providers.
  • Contributing to clinical guidelines, quality improvement, research and evidence-based practice.
  • Providing clinical leadership and supporting the development of nursing knowledge and capability.

About You

You will be an experienced Registered Nurse with advanced clinical skills, strong clinical judgement and a passion for improving outcomes for tamariki and whānau. You will be confident working autonomously and collaboratively and bring excellent communication, education and relationship-building skills.

You will also have:

  • Current Nursing Council of New Zealand registration and Annual Practising Certificate.
  • At least five years' experience within a relevant clinical specialty or senior nursing role.
  • Advanced nursing skills comparable to Senior Nurse or Expert PDRP level.
  • A relevant postgraduate diploma, or be actively working towards one.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership, teaching and mentoring skills.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • A current New Zealand Driver Licence.
  • A commitment to whānau-centred, equitable and evidence-based care.
