Clinical Nurse Specialist - Regional Neurosurgery

About the Role

The Regional Neurosurgery Clinical Nurse Specialist aims to improve the experience for patients and their family/whanau who are required to travel to Christchurch Waitaha to receive elective Neurosurgical care. 

This is an exciting new opportunity to develop a Senior Nursing Role that will support the clinical team by ensuring timely triage, coordination of diagnostic procedures, liaising with GPs and working alongside Regional Partners to minimise delays. 

You will be a key contact for the patients and their family/whanau as well as health professionals, in navigating the health services to ensure efficient, appropriate, and timely care is delivered.

You will link in with the Regional Partners to support the patients journey as we move towards a Regional Neurosurgery Service for the South Island.

About the Service

This challenging and demanding role will see you working closely and collaboratively with all members of the health care team including care coordinators from around New Zealand, primary, secondary, and tertiary health providers.

About you 

You should have a minimum of 5 years Neurosurgical experience, ability in clinical case co-ordination, be computer literate, able to function collaboratively and autonomously and have excellent proven communication and interpersonal skills. Thorough knowledge of health systems is an advantage.

  • Expert clinical nursing knowledge with experience in Neurosurgery or other Surgical Services
  • Effective interpersonal skills and a clear communicator
  • A solution focused approach to your work and the ability to problem solve and think on your feet
  • Proven nursing leadership skills
  • A recent relevant Post Graduate Qualification
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
